Mission Statement

Members of Todoroki taiko are dedicated towards the common goal of learning, evolving and performing the art of Japanese drumming.

Todoroki Taiko's development is guided by the following goals:

Heritage…

…which stands for promoting awareness of taiko and Japanese culture in Calgary and the surrounding area, while also celebrating our Canadian Rocky Mountain heritage in Alberta and our members’ individual and different cultural backgrounds.

Respect…

…for each other’s differences in a cultural, gender and personality sense, for the art of taiko, for the traditions we have both inherited and will begin, for our taiko colleagues in different groups world-wide and for our supporters and donors.

Unity…

…by embracing and encouraging a spirit of collaboration within our own group as well as between ourselves and the community, other taiko groups & musicians and our supporters.
